Caring for the environment often sounds simple on paper, but the real test lies in consistent action. This year, that commitment took shape once again through a tree-planting initiative led by PT Lautan Natural Krimerindo (LNK), which planted more than 160 trees as part of its ongoing environmental program in the area surrounding its operations, commonly referred to as its “Ring 1” community.
But behind that number lies a story that goes far beyond a simple planting activity. It is a story about consistency, collaboration, and genuine care for both the environment and the people who call it home.
More Than a One-Time Activity
LNK’s tree-planting initiative is not a one-off gesture. It is an annual program, a recurring commitment that the company has upheld year after year as part of its long-term dedication to environmental stewardship.
This consistency matters. A single tree-planting event can generate a nice photo and a short-lived sense of accomplishment, but real environmental impact requires persistence. By making this program an annual tradition, LNK sends a clear message: caring for the environment is not a campaign, it is a culture.
Getting Their Hands in the Soil

What makes this year’s activity particularly meaningful is not just the number of trees planted, but who planted them, and how.
Rather than outsourcing the work or treating it as a symbolic gesture, LNK employees rolled up their sleeves and took part directly. Together with the residents of Dusun Ketidur, Desa Pesanggrahan, they engaged in the deeply rooted Indonesian spirit of mutual cooperation, to dig, plant, and water each tree by hand.
There was no hesitation, no complaints, and certainly no reluctance to get dirty. Instead, what emerged from the activity was genuine enthusiasm. Employees who spend most of their working hours behind desks or on production lines found themselves kneeling in the soil, working side by side with local residents, united by a shared purpose that went beyond job titles or company hierarchy.
This is the kind of CSR activity that cannot be manufactured through a press release alone. It has to be lived, and it was.
Planting More Than Trees

While the environmental benefit of planting over 160 trees is significant, contributing to reforestation, improved air quality, and long-term ecological balance in the area, the impact of this initiative extends well beyond ecology.
For LNK, this program also serves a deeper social purpose: strengthening the bond between the company and the community it operates alongside. Ring 1 communities are often the ones most directly affected by a company’s presence, whether through infrastructure, employment opportunities, or environmental impact. Recognizing this, LNK designed the tree-planting initiative not just as an environmental gesture, but as a bridge, a space where employees and residents of Dusun Ketidur, Desa Pesanggrahan could connect, collaborate, and build genuine relationships. It transforms the relationship between company and community from one of proximity into one of partnership.
A Commitment That Grows With Time

Trees, by nature, take time to grow. They do not offer immediate results, and their true value is often only realized years after they are planted. In many ways, this mirrors LNK’s own approach to environmental responsibility: not a quick fix or a one-time initiative for optics, but a long-term investment that requires patience, consistency, and care.
Each of the 160+ trees planted this year represents more than a contribution to the local ecosystem. It represents a promise, one that LNK has made not just to the environment, but to the people of Dusun Ketidur, Desa Pesanggrahan who welcomed the company’s employees into their community with open arms.
Looking Ahead

As this year’s planting season comes to a close, one thing is clear: this will not be the last chapter. With environmental issues becoming increasingly urgent worldwide, and with local communities looking to responsible companies for meaningful partnership, LNK’s tree-planting program stands as a reminder that real change often starts small, with a single tree, planted by hands that genuinely care.
For LNK, sustainability isn’t just about reducing environmental impact. It’s about growing something lasting, for the earth, and for the people who share it.
What began as a handful of seedlings has grown into a tradition. And every year, that tradition grows a little greener.
